Go with the Glow

This past March was my beautiful little sister’s fourteenth birthday party. To help her celebrate, we threw her a glow in the dark party full of black lights, glow sticks, and a LOT of neon!

Bringing together the different elements of this party was challenging because it can be difficult to tell what will glow and what won’t when you are picking up supplies and decor. Here is a (hopefully) helpful guide to what does and does not glow and what really makes a glow in the dark party come together. The right elements can make an event like this really impactful.

The Key Ingredients:
Neon poster-board
White t-shirts and highlighters
LOTS of black lights
Glow sticks
Neon bunting (tutorial to follow!)
Dance area with strobe light
Swag (neon hair extensions, sunglasses, socks, earrings, hairspray, etc.)

    1. I think any kind of highlighters would work, but it’s worth it to spend a couple extra dollars on thick ones that are by a recognizable brand (I tried dollar store highlighters with less luck), as they will have the best ink saturation and will show up most clearly. Good luck!
